WENDY AND TOM DINE OUT

Waffle houses, pancake houses, and other breakfast restaurants seem to be similar. The Egg Platter follows this line of thought. Although it is attractive enough, clean enough, and has good enough food, there is nothing special about it. It has the usual look, i.e., Formica topped tables, plants hanging from the ceiling and some banquette seating. This restaurant is a little different because it also has eight counter seats. The Egg Platter is a good old (actually it is quite new)American family restaurant where you can get a hearty breakfast for a reasonable price. Also available at this eatery are lunch items like burgers, melts, sandwiches and salads. There is a dinner menu served from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. that includes meats, pastas, and seafoods. Each dinner comes with salad, potatoes, vegetables, rolls and dessert and is an excellent value for the money.

Note: We have eaten here again and were still not impressed with the food.

ENTREE:

V.I.P. (3 egg omelette with spinach, broccoli, and zucchini)($5.75) Average - served with grits and rye toast. Large portion of somewhat lumpy grits.

Chocolate Chip Pancakes (2)($3.95) Fair - The chips were included in the batter instead of being sprinkled on top, but the pancakes were fried on too hot a grill. The outsides were crispy as if fried too quickly in butter or oil. Tea was served with a pot of water, a full mug of hot water, and 2 tea bags on the side. This was a nice touch!

Veggie Omelette ($5.75) Poor - Wendy does not like omelettes that are fried on a hot grill so that they are brown and crispy on the outside and look like pancakes that have been folded in half.
