Introduction

This lesson was developed as the final project of  ED 533 The Standards-Based Classroom: Instruction and Assessment for Diverse Learners at Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

Our team decided to focus on Apples.  Massachusetts has many apple orchards. We feel that the students would be able to take ownership of the unit because they can use their prior knowledge and construct a new understanding of an apple tree as well as an apple orchard.
