Evaluation    

     The rubric below was based on the the journal article by Thomas R. Guskey, Helping Standards Make the Grade.  The article addresses how to develop a standard-based grading system.  The rubric addresses the standards that are being address in the Apple Unit.  Not all the standards are being address in this WebQuest.  Look at the teacher standards page for the specific standards.  The criteria/rating scale is below the rubric.

English and Language Arts

 

Students will understand and acquire new vocabulary, and use it correctly in reading and writing.

 

Students will identify the basic facts and main ideas in a text and use them as the basis for interpretation.

 

 

 

Mathematics

 

Estimate the number of objects in a group and verify results.

 

Identify the attributes of objects as a foundation for sorting and classifying

 

Sort and classify objects by color, shape, size, number, and other properties

 

Match quantities up to at least 10 with numerals and words

 

Understand the concepts of whole and half

 

Identify, reproduce, describe, extend, and create color, rhythmic, shape, number, and letter repeating patterns with simple attributes

 

 

 

History and Social Science

 

Students will understand the chronological order of historical events and recognize the complexity of historical cause and effect

 

 

 

Science and Technology/Engineering

 

Describe the weather changes from day to day and over the seasons

 

 

 

The Arts

 

Students will demonstrate knowledge of the methods and materials unique to the visual arts

 

Students will develop acting skills to portray characters that interact in improvised and scripted scenes
