- Reasons why DSL may not be available at
your location.
1. The Phone Company's Central Office in your town or city must
have the equipment for DSL (DSL Access Multiplexer). Not every Central
Office has this equipment. 2. Even if the Central Office in
your town has the DSLAM you need to be within 17,000 feet for SDSL or
25,000 feet for IDSL. 3. Other factors that may impact DSL
availability are fiber optics, load coils, or no facilities (i.e. you
may not have an available copper pair at your location or the DSLAM at
the Central Office may not have an available termination point for
your circuit).
