Scattergood-Moore, aka G. A. Scattergood, was born in Newton, Massachusetts on 30 November 1940. He grew up on Long Island and Cape Cod. After graduating from Swain School of Design, New Bedford, in 1963 he received his BFA from Boston University and MFA from University of Cincinnati. He has an extensive record of solo and group exhibitions. His work is included in numerous private collections across the United States. He has received recognition and commendation from Boston art critics and received three fellowships from the Massachusetts Council for the Arts and was nominatws for the Visual Arts Program.
        In additional to creating his own work, Scattergood has, since 1962, been an art instructor, librarian, framer and free-lance curator. He organized a number of notable exhibitions in the Boston-area and as the founder and director of a small non-profit gallery at Dana Hall, curated more than 150 exhibitions;. he resigned in 2006, after 38 years of teaching at the school. He is the founder and web designer of PantherPro USA Web Design and creator of numerous art-educational websites. Today he designs websites for visual artists.
        Scattergood has worked for artists' rights and housing issues and was an early member of the Boston Visual Artists Union. He has served on the Newton Arts Center Board of Directors and was appointed visual arts representative to the City of Newton Cultural Council, which he chaired from 2002-2004.
        His marriage produced two daughters, now grown with children of their own. A resident of Newton for nearly twenty-five years, he now lives and works in Claflin School Studios with a calico cat.
