Lundeberg, Helen USA 1908-1999
Studied art at the Stickney School of Art in Pasadena. Began exhibiting in the late thirties and during the Depression did a stint as a muralist for the Federal Art Project. Lundeberg and her husband Lorser Feitelson (1898-1978) were the most famous husband and wife team of artists on the West Coast. They married in 1933 and a year later cofounded Post-Surrealism or the New Classicism, a movement based on the literary, dream-imagery branch of Surrealism as opposed to the "automatic" direction that exerted a formative influence on Abstract Expressionism. |
