WHILE YOU WEREN'T LOOKING THE WORLD STOPPED...

It stopped at a place called Riverview B&B in Gloucester, on Cape Ann. Although it is only 30 miles or so north of Boston, it is a world away from the hectic city pace. The large waterfront home was built in 1899 and was lovingly renovated by Ginny and Hal Swinson, your hosts. Stand on the amazing 100 foot wraparound porch, high above the Annisquam River, and marvel at the panoramic view of the fishing and sailing ships gliding by on this Intracoastal Waterway.


Enjoy magnificent sunsets, relax on the backyard patio or dock, or stroll through beautiful terraced gardens down to the private sandy beach to explore, or wade, or swim, or just let time stand still.


Experience everything that scenic Cape Ann offers, including great restaurants, large sandy beaches, rocky coastlines, antique and specialty shops, whale watching and deep sea fishing. Nearby Rockport, a well known art colony, attracts visitors from all over the world and Gloucester is still one of the largest fishing ports in the country. The unique charm and decor of the Swinson home extends through all the guestrooms and accomodations. The first guestroom has a queen bed and sliders that open onto a ten-by-ten foot private deck overlooking the river. The second guestroom has two twin beds and also has a private waterview deck. The third has river and garden views and a double bed. The fourth has a queen size brass bed and river view. Two shared bathrooms are available for the four rooms. You'll enjoy a guest library with TV, books, visitor information and reading lamps on the same floor.

The hosts serve a continental breakfast on the veranda or in the 'Breakfast room'.
Breakfast includes fresh fruit, juice, home baked muffins and breads,

DIRECTIONS

From Boston, take Route 1 north to 128 north to Gloucester. Follow 128 to the Gloucester rotary (traffic circle). Drive ¾ way around the rotary and turn onto Washington. Travel on Washington Street for about 1/2 mile. Watch on the left for a hospital and drive past it. The second street is Wheeler. Bear left on Wheeler and up the hill. The first street on the left is Riverview. Turn left and drive to a one-way right turn. Follow the road to #83 on your right. Park in the parking area and enter the front door.
