Kiva

The Southwest Indians have a sacred space called a kiva.It is a circular space dug deep into the earth. To get to the kiva, you climb down a ladder. The kiva is dark and womblike.

Imagine that your vertebrae are the rungs of a ladder, leading you into your own personal kiva. It is a safe and sacred space, deep in your center. Feel yourself transfer your weight to the top rung of the ladder, at your neck, and slowly lower yourself, vertebra by vertebra, down your spine, going deep into your kiva.
