An Etox Tale
By Judith Poole Ó September 2001
When Claire arrives in my office, I notice dark circles under her eyes indicating kidney stress, a sign often observed in people with allergies. Her voice is nasal and rasping, indicating congestion in her air passages. She announces, "I'm tired all the time."
If you suffer from allergies, food and chemical sensitivities this situation may be familiar to you. Claire is typical of clients that I see with allergies; she has been plagued with allergic reactions since childhood, and lately her symptoms have increased in magnitude. Several different types of food cause her discomfort, and perfumes stimulate sneezing and headaches.
In a one-on-one session with Claire, I explain, "not all allergy-like symptoms involve histamine reactions. To avoid confusion, we refer to these as sensitivities. Most symptoms can be attributed to an allergy or sensitivity. Besides rashes, sneezing and wheezing, allergies or sensitivities can show up as joint pain, nausea, stomach distress, fatigue, dissociation, confusion, migraine headaches and even psychiatric symptoms. In addition, many sensitivities are masked, so it's difficult to make a connection. Symptoms related to a food sensitivity may not appear until four days after the encounter! Often, it takes detective work to discover the culprits."
It is likely that
Claire has become more sensitive because her body is carrying a greater toxic load. This
leaves it with fewer resources to deal with irritants that under normal circumstances it
can handle with aplomb. There are many factors leading to a greater exposure to toxins,
such as increased air and water pollution, high levels of stress, lack of proper
nutrition, disturbance of the body's acid/alkaline balance, soil depletion, nutrient poor
foods, and pesticides and hormones in our food supply. Even artificial light disrupts the
body's natural repair cycles.
As I talk through these issues, Claire nods in full agreement. I've noticed that more and more clients are aware of the environmental hazards we face. It is important that Claire does not feel that her increased symptoms are a hopeless situation. Holistic therapy has a good chance of bringing her body into balance. My dream is that as more of us discover and implement the necessary steps to bring ourselves into exhuberant good health, we will have the energy to change conditions in our world that are impacting the quality of our lives.
I turn to Claire to explain, "The intervention I use is called Etox, or Allergy Antidotes. This protocol both detects and addresses sensitivities, so in many cases a person will no longer react to a substance after treatment. Kinesiology is utilized to "interview" your body to detect allergies and sensitivities. It is sometimes called muscle testing, but that is somewhat of a misnomer. It actually measures the flow of vital energy in the body (also called qi or prana). When energy is flowing,
muscle strength is unaffected, and the muscle remains strong. If energy
flow is blocked for any reason, the muscle will temporarily test weak. Kinesiology allows
us to assess factors that your conscious mind is not aware of. Thus, the body provides
answers from the whole system including mental, emotional and spiritual aspects.
So how exactly does Etox work? Every substance carries its own frequency, and these vibrational frequencies can be copied into glass tubes, which are then used to test the system. We call the frequencies that weaken your system sensitivities. I have many vials with the energetic signature of substances including chemicals, body fluids, foods, emotions, organs and much else. Sometimes I don't have a vial for something you need to clear, and it may be on a list. Or it might just come to mind, and we write the name on a piece of paper and hold that. Even the name carries the vibration.
It is possible for a person to test weak (i.e., sensitive) to almost every substance. Therefore, we start with a double blind method of finding the highest priority substance to work with through a variation of kinesiology known as indicator mode. This allows me to treat the highest priority first."
Working together, Claire and I identify that first vial and I have Claire hold it in her hand, and test the reaction of her arm to light pressure. Her arm tests weak, indicating that she is sensitive to that substance, and we have the right vial. It turned out that her highest priority to clear was milk/calcium'. This is not unusual, since milk is the first food we encounter as infants. There are many emotional strings associating milk with mothering
I turn to Claire to say, "Now that your system has
indicated which vial to use first, we'll treat your sensitivity using acupressure
(applying pressure to specific points on acupuncture meridians in the body ) to bring your
body back into balance. Essentially, we are clearing any distortions or perturbations from
the energy field so that the body remembers how to process the substance, whether it is a
pathogen, a nutrient, or a toxin. An allergy, or any stressor, can cause your energy to
become unbalanced leading to a domino effect of symptoms. After we find and treat the top
priority items, many of your other sensitivities will disappear. It seems they are stacked
together."
The story of my work with another client nay help Claire understand how this rainbarrel effect works. I tell her about Jane, a client who had suffered with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for nearly twenty years. "Jane tested weak to twenty-six of the thirty vials in one of the collections. We determined that laundry detergent was the top priority for her body to clear. After treating that with acupressure, kinesiology indicated only four of the other twenty-five vials were still weak. We again treated the priority of the remaining vials, and all the rest of her weaknesses cleared. Instead of working with all 26, we only had to clear two and it was possible to complete this all in one session.
"During this testing process, Jane's story emerged. She was first exposed to
laundry detergent when, as a child, she had to work under oppressive conditions in her
familys Chinese laundry business. Jane had traumatic memories of the long-hours,
exposure to many harsh chemicals and the extreme pressure of her fathers high
expectations for her despite her young age. As they surfaced, we used acupressure to clear
these traumas, which turned out to be the root of her Chronic Fatigue.
Often sensitivities and allergies
arise during traumatic events. This is because the brain makes a neuronal link with
whatever it finds in the energy field at the time of the trauma, and is thereafter
triggered by that substance or even by something similar in color, odor or circumstance.
It is common for childhood or adolescent experiences to affect adult sensitivities. Another client of mine indicated through kinesiology that he needed to be treated for Titanium. That seemed highly unusual, until he revealed that he had a Titanium tooth implanted when he was a teen-ager. According to Sandi Radomski, the naturopath who trained me, it is very common for people with Titanium implants to become sensitized to the metal."
As Claire holds the vial, I use acupressure, tapping her bladder meridian, along either side of the spine. There are sighs, yawns, and belches that indicate energy is moving. Claire mentions with astonishment that she has an image of her mother holding and rocking her. Memories are buried in the cells somewhere, and as we get the energy moving, it is common for images to surface. At the end of the session Claire notes, "Things look a little different. Colors are sharper somehow." This is one indication that the acupressure was successful in clearing her sensitivity. Its confirmed when we retest, by the strength of her arm while holding the vial for milk/calcium.
Working through this process, it seems almost magical. The body has its own reasons for indicating specific sensitivities and the logic of these choices is not always clear. Even more amazing is that once the vial is selected, most clients can make sense of the choice. For many, once treated, exposure will no longer cause a reaction. In this way, it is possible for highly sensitive individuals to learn to treat allergies without medication. There is still a great need for research in this field, however, and the clearing is not always permanent. Perhaps this means that traumatic events of the past can surface, and trigger the same reaction.
Regardless of the reasons behind our sensitivities, we cannot truly overcome them if we
continue to be stressed,
malnourished,
exposed to toxins and generally ignore the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our
body. Utilizing kinesiology to detect the problem and acupressure to treat is only the
first step in the process of balancing the bodys energy to counteract sensitivity.
It is necessary for clients to maintain improvement by ensuring good nutrition, solid rest
and a positive attitude. As they gain energy and balance, they will be able to understand
and begin to address the larger cultural context in which their personal health challenges
arose.
