L Street Running Club
2009 Student Grant
Objective
The
objective of the L Street Running Club Student Grant is to provide
financial assistance to four qualified students who have been
accepted to a two- or four-year college or university. L Street
Student Grant recipients will be required to apply for the cash
awards of $500.00 (proceeds from the annual Jim Kane Sugar Bowl
5-mile Road Race) which can be spent on the purchase of textbooks or
computer equipment. The grants will be awarded upon the successful
completion of the recipients’ first semester with proof that they
are registered for the second semester at the same college or
university.
Applicant
Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a legal resident of the City of Boston

Be in the process of acceptance to a two or four-year college or
university for the academic year 2009-2010
Have been members of their high school track or cross country team
for at least two years
Note: In addition
to financial need, students’ academic records and involvement in
community services will
be considered in the selection process.
Application Process
Applications must be signed by the applicants’ guidance
counselor or principal and
mailed to the L Street Running Club (see address below) with the
following information:

An essay stating the reasons he/she should be awarded the grant

Applications must be postmarked no later than
April 4, 2009. Applicants will be notified by April 11, 2009
if they are
recipients of the L Street Student Grant.
