Objective The objective of the L Street Running Club Student Grant is to provide financial assistance to four qualified students who have been accepted to a two-or four-year college or university. L Street Student Grant recipients will be required to apply for the cash awards of $500.00 (proceeds from the annual Jim Kane Sugar Bowl 5-mile Road Race) which can be spent on the purchase of textbooks or computer equipment. Recipients will be notified by April 10, 2009, and acknowledged at L Street’s Boston Marathon meeting on April 16, 2009. A $500 check will be sent to them in December 2009, upon the successful completion of their first semester with proof that they are registered for the second semester at the same college or university. Applicant Requirements Applicants must· Be a resident of the City of Boston · Be in the process of acceptance to a two-or four-year college or university for the academic year 2009-2010 · Be a member of his/her high school track or cross country team for at least two years

Eligible daughters, sons, nieces and nephews of L Street members may apply. An essay
stating the reasons he/she is eligible to be awarded the grant Mail the application to: LSRC 2009 Student Grant, c/o Mary Scherr, 12 Dixfield Street, South Boston, MA 02127. Applications must be postmarked no later than April 3, 2009. Applicants will be notified by April 10, 2009, if they are recipients of the L Street Student Grant.
