LSRC Winter Running Schedule
It
is cold when you first step out the door in the winter time, but it
doesn't take long to warm up -- especially when you are surrounded by
other runners. Runners have left their workday schedules behind them
, and have come over to L Street to challenge the road and challenge
themselves.
This winter running schedule will be for members who are just out
for a Sunday run, as well those training for full or half marathons.
Sunday run
This route will be posted on the web
site the same as the marathon training route. The course will piggy
back onto the marathon training routes
whenever possible. The Sunday runs will be managed by Joe Perdicaro
Tuesday night run
6-7 miles run at 6:00 pm
starting at the L Street entrance
(or interval
training).
Thursday night run
7 to 10 mile run
at 6:00 pm, starting at the L Street entrance (or
hill training in Newton).
Half -Marathon Training
The half marathon Training will be part of the Marathon training
Program. It will have it's own mileage requirements,
and will
have it's own training schedule. It will use the Hyannis Half
Marathon as it's target date.
Marathon Training
Training for the Boston and other Spring marathons
will start on Sunday morning January 3, at 8:00 am, at the M
Street entrance. The L Street training program accelerates fairly
quick, by the 7th week we will be up to 18 miles. The first run is
9.5 miles. In addition to the course directions there will be a
write up that will give a brief description of the route, so you
will know what to expect (esp. novices).
To make the training interesting for the veterans we have changed a
couple of the Routes. There is a new course for Charlestown and
Milton and a (optional) modified course for the Ed Dever run
Also new this year we are going to try and have (optional) 4
organized hill runs on the Boston Marathon race course in Newton. It
is a great place to build up your leg muscles, as well as
familiarize yourself with the hills of the race course. This will be
tried in the first four Thursday nights of the training schedule.
Interval training will take place every two weeks on Tuesday nights.
In the later stages of training Yasso 800's will be conducted for
two sessions.
The marathon training program will be managed by Paul
Mancuso, John McDonough, Joe Perdicaro and Bill Hartford
The busses will be handled again this year by Jack Doherty and Joe Foley
