Here is my interpretation of Safecracker:
The old acoustic version is played on a normal tuning guitar, but
the album version is a HALF STEP DOWN. I am tabbing for the normal
tuning version so if you can't play along with the CD with my
interpretation here, give me a chance, it's just in a different
key, it doesn't mean it isn't still correct.. (for the most part).
Or you could just tune your guitar down of course.
"Intro" chord: Bm7 or Bmadd4
e (or Eb)---------2---------- ---------0---
B (or Bb)---------3---------- ---------3---
G (or F#)---------4---------- ---------4---
D (or C#)---------4---------- ---------4---
A (or Ab)---------0---------- ---------2---
E (or Eb)---------x---------- ---------2---
like the loud more like
acoustic version the CD
Anyway I like the old acoustic version. So the following chords are from
there. I don't know if they are exactly the same as the album.
Intro:
Bm7(as above)-Am-Bm7(as shown next)
This is the normal Bm7 for the verse: 224232
Verse:
Bm7 Bm7-Am-G-Am
As fly to tarantula
Am
As jugular to Dracula
G G Am D
To me and my
G Am Am* G*
Ford Spectacular you'll be drawn
(* means barred. Mute 1st string for these two on this verse.)
G*-Am-Bm7
Bm7
I'll smash your...
G*
Safecracker.
CHORUS:
G(no *) Am C D
Got impaled/On a nail/Once I'd left a trail behind me
...(same chords again)
Bm7...
Moon is a blabbermouth...
Am* G*
Won't be caught
G* Am* Bm*
They call me thrifty
Am*
Thrifty I count out 2.50
D* G*
A gallon'll get me to Paisley. I'm a safecracker
Well that's the intro, 2 types of verse and chorus. That's how I
play it anyway.
