Jess, the dangers of posting to the mailing list...

The following was posted by Jessica to the list on Decemer 26, 1996, in only a way that Jess can do it:

"...I talked to Frank last week and have a bit of news. Hmmm, lessee...um, do y'all know that go! will soon be no more? It seems the boys are quite cool with it, cause when go!'s gone, so are their debts. As for the rest of the go! artists, I guess the beautiful south's signed on with a big label so they're o.k. and portishead and gabrielle are gonna be on go!beat, and everybody else is just left homeless, or rather label-less. I guess the trashies are gonna go with whatever Andy Macdonald's gonna do, which is start his own li'l label. They still don't have a drummer. They haven't been in the mood to go through the interviewing process (do you blame them?). They might come to these crazy united states of america to record the next rekkid, but I don't know if they'll do any shows. Btw, does anybody know how long it's been since they played in the states? Oh, god that just reminded me of something - at the spooktime thingy they had some tcs stuff up on the walls, ya know a little background/bio stuff and one of the last thing it mentioned was the list and how it's supporting the boys with "enthusiasm of David Koresh proportions" HA! We're a krazy kult! One question, where is our compound, and when are we gonna hole ourselves up in it? Oh dear, where was I? Um, I can't remember what else sir francis said. We just kinda babbled on about non tcs stuff. I guess he mentioned the legions of stray cats that are hanging around shabby road as of late, in an interview in a london newspaper a couple weeks ago, and loads of people have been writing/calling to see how that cats are doing. And we talked about the reviews the smiths cover and TSWL have gotten. Melody Maker seems to be treating em nice, but NME's either ignoring them or being rude (what's new?). Everet True said lovely things about TSWL last week, whilst Ian Broudie (singles co-reviewer of the week) just rabbited on about the movie - whatever. I think with the demise of go!, it's kinda like a chance for them to start anew, which is cool. I think good things lie ahead for our boys..."
