OLTGASM 176
Most of the time these images happen on one
side of the cardboard, paper, wood, or whatever I'm using to make the OLTGASM.
Most flat art abides by this rule anyway... plus it is a matter of convenience
when these things go postal: no envelopes, just address the reverse and
send it, postcard style. However, as my process became more and more
about the phenomena of cutting up, rearranging and reconstructing, I found
that often what I thought to be the back of the piece had a charm of its
own. At times the duct tape, staples, strapping tape, scotch and
masking tape used as joinery dominated the iconic images with which I had
originally begun. There is a combination of formal abstraction,
functionality and accident in pieces like this one which I enjoy.
And they look trashy.
