GROENENDAEL:

ANDY & ANNIE - male and female pair in Oklahoma. Very nice heads, small ears, and good weight. They have always been together and enjoy playing and romping around as a team. Excellent health, vaccinations up to date, and crate trained. Found living in nearby woods. They're coats were matted and needed to be shaved but growing back quite nicely now. They are a bit unsure of themselves around people but are never aggressive. If you have a loving home for this easy going pair you will rewarded with much love. Transportation to their new home, family orientation, and any training will be provided to the adoptive family. Contact Paul Ponzio at pponzio@ix.netcom.com, at home 508-947-6640, or via pager 888-650-0850 eastern time.

WILLY ..young male in So Cal. He is essentially a feral dog, who is of good temperament, and is not a fear-biter. He has been very shy, however, and so we have been taking lots of time to let him relax and learn that people can be nice. At this point, he will take treats by hand...especially corn dogs! And one can pet him and give him kisses if one approaches very slowly and non-threateningly. So we have high hopes for him, and are beginning to look for just that right home. He is good with other dogs (unknown with cats at this point), and does seem drawn to people, though he is still afraid of them. He is of the older BSD variety, with a broader head, larger feet, ...but lovely coat. etc. We have no idea where he came from. The ideal home for Willy will be with folks who are understanding and patient, and commited to using positive training methods. Contact Teri Meredyth for photos/more information at teri2ns@earthlink.net or 310-326-6447.

MALINOIS:

YUKON...7 yo spayed female in Delaware. Yukon is a sweet, energetic, people-loving Malinois who has had a hard life. Turned in to ABMC Rescue at six years old, she had spent most of her life in an outdoor kennel. She has been through heartworm treatment, has put on some much-needed weight. She is housebroken, and has reportedly had a little basic obedience training. She is affectionate with people, and gets along with other Belgians; however, she has a lot of prey drive and should not go to a home small children, small dogs, cats, or other small animals. A bone spur on her elbow gives her a bit of a limp, but does not hinder her ability to get around. She is quite affectionate, and would make a great companion in a calm household.Contact Laurie Baker at K9Border@aol.com.

DIAMOND- 2 year old neutered male....Maine. Diamond is a total love bug!! Everyone who has met him has fallen in love with him. He is great with people, ok with cats and is better off in a home without other male dogs. Diamond will lean in to you to get his ears and chest scratched! He is housebroken, good on a leash, confident and has a very stable temperament. Diamond does have moderate hip dsyplasia and is doing very well while using a dietary supplement to ease joint stiffness.Contact Ramona Mellows at ALexBritt@aol.com.

LADY 3-4 yo spayed female Mal in So. California. Lady is currently 51 lbs. & house-broken. She is very good inside the house; however, she likes to chase my cats and is obsessed with them, so for now, I walk her around the house on a leash never leaving her out of my site with the cats. She jumps the 4 ft. high fence with ease but has not attempted to go over the 6 ft one. She gets along with people, children, and friendly dogs. She is trained, loving, affectionate, energetic, and very smart (quick learner). If I sit on the ground, she likes to cuddle in my lap and get tummy rubs. She likes to follow me everywhere I go. Contact information: e-mail Alyson Walton at tyandaly@pacbell.net or call 909-416-4361 for further information.

LUCKY - 5 yo neutered male in MD. Lucky is a very easy dog, kennel trained and not a barker. He loves to ride in the car & is great with other dogs and children but he hasn't been exposed to cats. He may be a fence jumper so we'd love a home with a 6 foot fence. He is up to date on all his vaccines and on HW preventative.Contact Sharon Burke at sharonb@ix.netcom.com or 301-946-0195.

BAMBI .. 1 yo spayed female in Los Angeles, CA area. Very friendly, Bambi was rescued by SCBSR when she was a teeny, malnourished pup and has blossomed into a wonderfully social girl. She being placed now because of a chronic back problem that precludes her from competing in agility and having to sit the sidelines is just not fair to her. She likes to play with other dogs, but extreme rough-housing would probably need to be curbed because of this condition. Looking at her, she does not appear to be unsound and she is a typical active Malinois. Contact Kim at kimbuchanan@earthlink.net.

VAHVA - 6 yo female in Central Massachusetts. Vahva is a quiet girl who is comfortable with children and strangers. She had been a kennel dog most of her life but is learning house manners quickly in her new home. She is reddish fawn with no black overlay. She stands about 24" and is slightly plump at 62 pounds. Vahva is fine with other dogs but cannot move to a home with cats.Contact Lyn Lilyestrom at folklorekennel@juno.com.

SHEBA - 4 yo spayed female in Maine. Sheba is a wonderful girl who gets along well with people of all ages, other dogs, cats and birds. However, Sheba was traumatized by a kennel stay and has extreme seperation anxiety. She needs a home where someone will be with her most of the time. Sheba rides great in a car and shows no anxiety when she is on car rides!! She would make an excellent therapy dog. Contact Ramona Mellows at AlexBritt@aol.com or 207-923-3598.

MICHAEL 14 mo. old neutered male in South Carolina. Michael is a pretty boy, probably from show lines and smallish, 22 inches tall. He was dumped by his breeder along with his sister,Phoebe. He is shy of strange people, but sweet and non-aggressive. His new family will need patience while slowly earning Michael's trust. It does come in time; he is affectionate to me now and he likes petting. He's house-trained and crate-trained, and he tolerates tooth-brushing. He gets along with my cat and he loves to play with my dogs. He gets along well with all kinds of dogs and also dog-savvy children are OK. See his photos on the ABMC Rescue site. Please contact Connie Steffens Jimmez3D@aol.com.

LUKE - 5 yo, neutered male in Deleware. Luke is a big boy who is good with all people and most female dogs.He is well behaved and anxious to learn. Luke should not go to a home with cats or other small animals. He wants to be with his people and can escape out of a kennel with ease!Contact Laurie Baker at K9Border@aol.com.

IGGY....2 year old neutered male in Hanover, IN. Iggy has AKC papers. He is great with women and children but somewhat fearful of men though he's coming out of his fear of men VERY quickly. He was a kennel dog but is doing EXCELLENT on housebreaking and is crate trained. He is great with other dogs , don't know about cats as I don't have any. He has nice house manners and is somewhat laid back. He is gaining weight and filling out. He walks nicely on leash, doesn't jump up unless asked to and is starting to enjoy playing fetch. Iggy is a very sweet boy that deserves a loving home.Contact Tara Hatchel cayla12@msn.com.

FRISBY 8 yr old neutered male - Vancouver, WA. Frisby would do best in a home with no children or livestock. He does NOT do well with horses and probably other types of livestock (including chickens). He is amazingly well-behaved on a leash and is not dog-aggressive in the least. He will walk right by lunging, barking dogs in the park. He has fairly good recall off leash, except if there are horses or cows in the vicinity. He rides extremely well in the car. He does not do well with cats -- he will persistently bark and chase those that run from him, although appears to do better with cats that hold their ground. At the adoption event, he appeared nervous around small children, although he is wonderful with adults and older kids. He is somewhat standoffish for the first few minutes, but warms up quickly. He apparently was fed a raw diet all his life, but has adjusted to eating dry kibble at my house. He was completely housebroken for the first few days at a potential adoptee's house, but them started to potty indoors. Contact: Kristi Swisher or call (360) 696-7572 (w) or (360) 574-8621 (h).

JENNA.. 8 yr old spayed female - Vancouver, WA. Jenna would do best in a home with no children or livestock. She rides well in the car, is great on the leash, fairly good on recall off leash, and is smaller and more petite in size than Frisbee. Jenna is fine with cats and is housebroken when left inside. Jenna positively doesn't do well with kids. I have not been around this breed before, but they seem restless and move around a lot when confined. They are each (Jenna and Frisby) in a 6' X 24' kennel, half covered with a dog house for shelter. I walk them twice a day on my acreage and take them to the park occasionally for an outing. I currently have numerous foster dogs, so am not able to bring them inside and don't have outside cats so I did not run into the troubles that their previous prospective adopter did. Contact: Kristi Swisher or call (360) 696-7572 (w) or (360)574-8621 (h).

MAHOGANY (aka..Maggie) .. 3 yo spayed female. She is current on all her shots including rabies. She was friendly with the dogs and cats at the interim foster home and has had some obedience training and may be trained in another language. She's been trained to work off your right side instead the left. According to her interim foster home, she has some issues with men and may have had some abuse at the hands of a man. She's a bit shy when meeting new people and very unsure about being touched, but does warm up with bribery. She does very well with the other males in my yard, however she's a bit too bossy to try with my really bossy female.Contact Marie Bradley at (909) 943-1371 or showcaseterv@msn.com.

SNITCH...1 to 1 ½ yo spayed female in So Cal. She is small, agile and is responsive to commands. Snitch likes balls and toys and probably well suited to some sort of competition or performance home. She has a sweet personality, doesn't frighten easily and allows handling by strangers without any fear or hesitation. It is unknown how she will be with children or small pets. Unlike many rescues, she loves men and women equally. She seems to be a very clean dog. When tested with a dog in her foster home, she was very playful, happy to have a companion and typical to a young, silly Malinois. Snitch has no training to speak of and is a great "blank slate" for someone who would like to start training from the ground up, but doesn't want a puppy. She is a delight! You can see more photos of Snitch at http://home.earthlink.net/~kimbuchanan/SCBSR-AVAIL.htm. We are looking for a VERY active home for Snitch, preferably a cat-free adult environment. Contact Kim for more information kimbuchanan@earthlink.net.

NOLA - 1 1/2 year old spayed female in Michigan. Nola is a beautiful young girl who is extremely alert and ready to learn! She is high energy and would love to play at obedience or agility. She has already been evaluated for SAR but does not have the necessary drive. Nola is great with her foster kids but a little shy of men. She bonds very closely and likes to be with her family. Nola is also getting along well with both her male and female foster dog family!! She will chase cats but has not tried to hurt them. Contact Sharon at tjw8559@voyager.net for additional information.

MARTI - 1 1/2 year old spayed female in OHIO Marti is a great house dog. She plays great with the other dogs in her foster home and then settles nicely in the house. Marti loves to be petted and is great with children. She is a wonderful companion who would probably do well in obedience or agility with a calm, gentle trainer. She is very loving and is looking for a family to bond with. Contact Carol at 740-967-0518 or carol.stein@voyager.net.

NOEL 14 mo. old Mal and her pups in So. Calif. Noel is a loving mom, an affectionate friend, and a quick learner Beautiful young Noel was found in desperate circumstances just before Christmas, trying to nuture her newborn pups in an abandoned building. Kind souls cared for her for a week or so, and then they were taken to the East Valley shelter in No. Hollywood. Once bailed and safe in foster care, this young mom relaxed. From the very beginning, she was trusting and friendly. She seems to feel a little safer around women. There are four gorgeous, healthy pups in the litter. One is male, three are female. Since they are still quite young (currently about 9 weeks) we are not sure whether they are purebred Mals or GSD/Mal crosses. Their little personalities are coming out, and they will soon be ready to go to their new homes. The ideal home for Noel herself will be one in which her confidence can continue to be built with positive training methods and lots of love. She is an excellent obedience and/or agility prospect, and loves to play, play, play! Contact Teri Meredyth via email at teri2ns@earthlink.net, or by phone at 310-316-6447.

TRIXIE spayed female in central Illinois [Aug 01] She is a great dog for someone who understands the breed and does not have cats! She has a high prey drive towards them. She does not like to be left alone for long periods of time and will whine for you to come back. Trix also knows how to get over and out of fences if left unattended to long. Otherwise, she is a happy, great dog! She always is thrilled to see you, does well with strangers, adjusts to new things easily and is great with children!
