I have been photographing Series Images for many years. This particular series is of the same hand-painted mural sign on a building at 8th Avenue and 35th Street which has had an advertisment painted on it since as long as I can remember, at least 19 years.
Part of my series "Up in Smoke" was published as a full-page feature in LIFE magazine in September, 1994. That series depicts a window of a discount drugstore in Greenwich village with their sign advertising cigarette prices, and starts in 1979 when the price was 59 cents per pack and continues to the present
when the price is over $2.50
