"Chlorine is used almost universally in the treatment of public water supply because of its toxic effect on harmful bacteria and other waterborne, disease-causing organisms. But there is growing evidence that chlorine in water may actually pose serious health risks when it is absorbed into human body over long period.
These effects of chlorine may result from either ingestion or absorption through the skin.

Studies have linked chlorine and its byproducts to cancer of the bladder, liver, stomach, rectum, and colon, as well as heart disease, atherosclerosis, anemia, high blood pressure, and allergic reactions. There is also evidence that chlorine can destroy protein in our body and cause adverse effects on skin and hair.
The presence of chlorine in water may also contribute to the formation of chloramines, which can cause taste and odor problems. Since chlorine is required by public health regulations to be present in all public drinking water supplies, it is up to the individual to remove it at the point-of-use in the home"

Some people filter their tap water to remove chlorine. Unfortunately, they are only addressing half the problem. In the hot shower, chlorine is not only absorbed through the skin, but inhaled into the lungs, and transferred directly into the blood stream. Chlorine readily passes through the cell wall and attaches to fatty acids, disrupting its life sustaining functions. The human body is composed of trillions of cells, and undue alterations of these cells result in aging, tumor and cancer.

Exclusive and proprietary catalytic filtration media Chlorgon®
Carbon filter is an excellent means of removing chlorine and fluoride from cold tap water, typically in the temperature range of 50-75 F. Its efficacy and life, however, drop off sharply at high temperatures encountered in hot showers, in the range of 85-105 F. Contaminants get "off-loaded" back into the water.
Sprite has invested a great deal in developing its proprietary Chlorgon®, high temperature catalytic media of minerals and calcite, which become more efficient as the water temperature increases. Sprite shower filters are densely packed with Chlorgon® and KDF, and will filter out at shower temperatures both free and combined chlorine(s),
dirt, sediments, odor-causing organic chemicals, hydrogen sulfide, iron oxide and sand.
KDF is a more conventional filter media made of high-purity cooper and zinc compounds. It either oxidates or reduces water borne impurities into harmless substances, such as chlorine to chloride. Other contaminants such as aluminium, arsenic, iron, mercury, lead and other heavy metals bond to the KDF media.
Added benefit of KDF is being bacteriostatic, meaning, it discourages growth of microorganisms in two ways. First, KDF media in static water have an electrolytic field which most microorganisms can not survive in. KDF media also form hydroxyl radicals and peroxides which interfere with microorganism's ability to multiply.
