Your right to respond to evaluations
I believe that you should write a formal response to anything in your evaluation that is inaccurate and/or damaging. You should also respond if your evaluation omits or trivializes important accomplishments. |
I fear that by failing to respond you seem to be agreeing with the evaluation. Your response becomes part of the official record. Should a problem arise later, you don't want to be in the position of having to explain why you didn't use your right to respond (or grieve for that matter). |
When in doubt, please do not ask the evaluator if you should reply. Ask an MSCA officer or a colleague who can be trusted to maintain confidentiality. If the evaluator says that you don't need to respond and you later decide that you do, you may offend the evaluator unnecessarily. |
Consult the Personnel Calendar for response deadlines. |
Don't hesitate to contact MSCA Chapter Grievance Officer, Sandy Faiman-Silva, or myself about your response. Please don't submit a response without giving one of us the opportunity to read it beforehand. |
