Yates adds ‘write’ to become top scorer
Junior Nick Yates recently earned recognition by winning two important and diverse awards: the Math Olympiad and the National Council of Teachers of English writing contest. For the Olympiad, Yates had to answer thirty tough multiple choice questions in a variety of areas including geometry, trigonomety, and algebra. MORE>>>
Student Advisory Board makes changes
Back in December, the students elected a group of peers to be the eyes, ears, and voices of the school.
The Advisory Committee Board is made up of Nora Byron (President), Erin O’Connor (Vice President), Adrienne Dancey (Secretary), Audrey Hunt (Freshman Rep.), Jacquelin Lorenco (Sophomore Rep.), Tanika Richardson (Junior Rep.), and Jeremy Young (Senior Rep.). MORE>>>

Nursing with Riordon
Mrs. Deirdre Riordon, the new school nurse, is happy with her new postion here at SHS. “I like it here,” she said. “People seem friendly and great.” Before coming to Stoughton, she worked at a physician’s office for 13 years. She wanted a change and to be more involved with kids, so becoming a school nurse seemed a natural choice. MORE>>>
Conflict Resolution and Peer Mediation
Ms. Berman, the coordinator and trainer of the peer mediation program at Stoughton High School, had a lot to say about the ability and growing popularity of the program. “It offers an opportunity to talk out conflicts and disagreements with others, in a safe and confidential environment. MORE>>>
Concert and jazz bands ready for competition
The SHS concert and jazz bands are hard at work to continue the success from this fall’s marching season. Upcoming competitions are motivating the musicians to work harder than ever to ready themselves for the performance. Mr. Christianson and the 22 members of the jazz band kick off the season on Feb. 15 at the Norwood Jazz classic. MORE>>>
