Honor Society in full spring
By Stephen Goldstein
SHSs chapter of National Honor Society is hard at work this semester
with several beneficial events. After another successful Valentines
Day flower sale, NHS helped run both a Senior Citizen Breakfast
in the school cafeteria and a free afternoon of Bingo for prizes
at Ahavath Torah Congregation. They also raised some money with
the annual candy sale.
These events prove worthwhile for the chapter when its members
see the smiling faces of those who attend. The guests love to
tell stories and show pictures of their grandchildren while they
listen to members of the teenage generation. Many senior citizens
come for a day of excitement and a change from their daily routines.
Upcoming events include three walk-a-thons in which NHS members
plan to participate by walking, handing out water to runners,
and overseeing the general goings-on.
For those sophomores and juniors not already involved as a National
Honor Society member, keep your ears open! Announcements for
picking up applications will come soon. To all juniors who are
already members begin thinking about who you want to nominate
as officers! Elections will be held in an after-school meeting
once the seniors leave.
