Students’ vacations in unusual locations
By Brandy Adelstein and Amy Levine

Greece, the Grand Canyon, and a Dude Ranch were deemed the most extraordinary vacation locations from a sampling of 100 SHS students.

Darlene Hughes, a senior, said her favorite part of Greece is “the exquisite ruins and the Crete Beaches because of the fresh water and liveliness of it.”

“I love the beaches… all of them. Just getting away from home is great,” said freshman Danae Roumis.

The Grand Canyon has a breathtaking scenic view. Sophomore Kevin Smith said he loved riding the mules down on the trails. He got to see the trails, the hikers, mules, the Colorado River and of course its rapids, the abandoned copper mines, the Native American Indian ruins, and the Desertview Watchtower.

Sophomore Nicole Whitney said her favorite part of the Canyon was “watching the sunset over the gorge and the amazing glare of the Colorado River.”

The warmest and friendliest place in the East is New York State’s Dude Ranch, which has many amazing activities from mountain snow tubing to sleigh riding on the beautiful 800 acres of grasslands according to Kerri Roche, senior.
