‘Sergeant’ Flores leaves army for love of English
By Leah Amaru

Ms. Flores, a new English teacher at SHS, previously taught at Brockton High School and in the Boston Public Schools. She recently returned to Massachusetts after a brief stay out of state.

In comparison to Brockton, the atmosphere at SHS is more flexible. Flores said, “Students here are more privileged and have more freedom.”

With nice classrooms and computers, Stoughton is more technologically advanced than Brockton and the students enjoy more luxuries.

Ms. Flores comes from a suburban community in Massachusetts and went to a high school similar to Stoughton. Growing up she wanted to be a veterinarian because she worked in a veterinarian’s office through high school. After going to college for a year, Ms. Flores decided to join the army and was ranked as a private when entering. She was stationed in North Carolina, and served in the army for three years. When she got out, she was ranked a Sergeant. She then decided to move on with her life to help others and enrich them by teaching English.

In her spare time, Ms. Flores enjoys reading, exercising and working out, and going to the movies. Ms. Flores’s favorite book is Bleak House by Charles Dickens. This new English teacher is now happy to share her love of English with SHS
