Setting up Microsoft's Windows XP is not very different than their previous operating systems. The most difficult attribute of XP is it's ability to change appearance settings. Once you find what you're looking for, settings up a dial-up connection will be very easy. I am going to show you almost every way possible to setting up dial-up connections using Microsoft Windows XP.

**If one upgrades from a earlier version of Windows, the desktop icons and start menu will remain the same. If this is the case, find the control panel and follow the instruction from step number 2.**

Windows XP Home Edition Tips

Windows XP (default) has no icon's on the desktop. Moving about XP is done through the start menu.

1.) After Clicking on the start menu, you then must click on "Control Panel".

2.) After you open the "Control Panel," you must then click on, "Network and Internet Connections".

3.) Inside of "Network and Internet Connections" you will click on, "Network Connections".

4.) After you click on "Network connections", click on "Create a new connection".

5.) After clicking "Create a new Connection," the connection wizard will appear. Follow the instructions as usual.

Click Next

Choose "Connect to the Internet"

Click "Set up my connection manually"

"Connect using a dial-up modem"

Type "Galaxy, " click next...

Enter phone number

username and password

**Uncheck, "Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection".**

If the customer would like, you could click, "Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop".

Right click on Galaxy and go to "Properties".

Click on the Networking Tab, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and hit "Properties."

In the General Screen, fill this out accordingly.
