Windows ME Dial Up Networking Setup

 

Open up My Computer and click on Control Panel
   
Click on Dialup Networking in Control Panel
   
Right click on the My Connection icon and choose Properties
   
Here in the General tab enter the 10-digit phone number and uncheck the Use area code and Dialing properties checkbox. Make sure the correct modem is selected under Connect Using.
   
Click on the Networking tab. Choose "PPP; Internet; Windows 2000/NT, WindowsME" for the Type of Dialup Server. Put a check in the TCP/IP box. Make sure the 4 other boxes are unchecked. Click on the TCP/IP Settings button.
   
In the TCP/IP Settings select Server assigned IP address at the top of the screen. In the middle of the window choose Server assigned name server addreses. At the bottom of the screen make sure both Use IP header compression and Use default gateway boxes are checked. Click the OK button.
   
Now click on the Security tab. Make sure all the fields in the screen are empty.
   
Finally click on the Dialing tab. At the top of the screen put a check in the box that says "This is the default internet connection". Also select Dial whenever a network connection is not present from the three choices below that. Click OK.

Your connection is now setup. To dialup to the internet simply launch your web browser or email program and the connection will be established.
