1. Close all Programs on your computer, save all information.
2. Click on the Start button in the lower left hand corner of the screen.
3. Choose Settings
4. Chose Control Panel
5. Double Click on Network.
6. Double Click on TCP/IP (if you see more than one, click on the one affiliated with your Ethernet Adapter) from the list of components.
7. You’ll be on the IP Address page. Click on Specify an IP address.
8. In the IP Address box, enter this PC’s unique address, starting with 192.168.100.2 The next computer you configure will be 192.168.100.3, etc.
9. For Subnet Mask, enter 255.255.255.0
** please do not use the addresses shown in the image, they are examples only.
10. Click on the DNS Configuration tab
11.Click the Enable DNS checkbox.
12. Enter your Computer’s unique name in the Host text box.
13. Enter a domain name (such as yourcompany.com) in the Domain text box.
14. Enter the following numbers (your primary DNS server’s IP address) in the DNS Server Search Order: 208.218.130.4
15. Click Add.
16. Enter the following number in the same DNS Server Search Order box: 208.218.130.5
17. Click Add.
18. Ignore the Domain Suffix Search Order boxes; Click on Gateway.
19. Under New Gateway, enter the IP address for the GalaxyDSL Router, 192.168.100.1
** please do not use the number above, they are just examples
20. Click on Advanced; check the box marked Set this protocol to be the default protocol.
21. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
22. Click OK again.
23. Windows will need to reboot. Click Yes.
You can test your GalaxyDSL connection by running a web browser and visiting various Web sites.
To test if your computer is properly communicating with your GalaxyDSL router, you can run the ping command from a DOS window, specifying your router’s IP address (same as your default gateway) as an argument to ping.
If your computer still attempts to connect to the Internet via the phone line after finishing this setup, follow these simple steps.
1. Click on the Start button in the lower left hand corner of the screen.
2. Choose Settings
3. Chose Control Panel
4. Chose Internet Options
5. You will see the General tab in front of you. Chose Connections.
6. Make sure that Never dial a connection is selected.
7. Click on LAN Settings
8. Make sure Automatically Detect Settings is selected.
9. Click on OK
10. Click on OK again.
