10 Ways to Bring Middle Class Families Back into Our Cities

Number 1

Build Middle Class Housing

Build large, affordable, 3-4 bedroom apartment or townhouse units, each with deeded 2-3 cars parking, large kitchens, and 2-3 bathrooms.

Number 2

Build Full-Size, Large Supermarkets

Build suburban-style, full product-line, wide-aisle, food markets with huge, free parking lots and restrooms.

Number 3

Build Outstanding Public Schools

Build outstanding public schools with great facilities including full libraries, laboratories, auditoriums, computers, cafeterias, gymnasiums, running tracks, ice skating rinks, and swimming pools.

Number 4

Eliminate the Need for School Busing

Eliminate the need for school busing by substituting with walkable distances from housing densities. Provide lots of crossing guards so kids can walk to and from school.

Number 5

Build Bicycle Paths

Build bicycle paths down the center of every main street. Permit bicycle transportation as a green, environmentally safe alternative method for easily navigating big city streets.

Number 6

Build Huge Branch Public Libraries

Build huge branch public libraries with modern study spaces, computer docks, audio-visual equipment, and, of course, books.

Number 7

Build Public Cafeterias / Dining Commons

Use the university model to build and staff public cafeterias / dining commons throughout the city, making wholesome meals available for reasonable prices. Of course, public restrooms should adjoin these dining facilities.

Number 8

Build Sports Fields

Build and maintain lots of outdoor baseball, soccer, football, basketball, and childrens playground fields, each with viewing stands.

Number 9

Build Suburban-Style Indoor Shopping Malls

Build suburban-style, indoor, shopping malls with a good mix of upscale and affordable shops. Food courts as well as free parking lots and restrooms should be standard elements.

Number 10

Cleanliness, Cleanliness, Cleanliness

Devise motivational programs and job programs to advance super-cleaning all public and private spaces and eliminate germs, bugs, rodents, litter, and messiness.

Number 11

Build Suburban-Style Outpatient Medical Clinics

Build suburban-style outpatient medical clinics with both general practitioners and all specialties available 24-7 and accepting citywide, statewide, or national/federal single payer health insurance reimbursement.
