The Friends of the Plymouth Pound sponsor or attend many special events during the year. The Friends of the Plymouth Pound are active in the ongoing "Luv A Pet" adoption program sponsored by the Petsmart store in Hyannnis, MA. Petsmart has set aside an area in this store for the exclusive use of the Friends of the Plymouth Pound where we house and display many of our homeless cats. If you are looking for a cat, come to Petsmart in Hyannis and see our cats. The Hyannis Petsmart store is located on Route 132 (Iyannough Road) near Lenscrafters. Adoption applications, which are available at the store, should be completed if you are interested in any of our cats. Volunteers are always needed to help us take care of the cats at the Petsmart in Hyannis. The Friends of the Plymouth Pound holds a fund-raising carnival at the Armstrong Skating Arena on Long Pond Road in Plymouth on Memorial Day weekend. This year's event has passed. NEXT! Every year the Friends of the Plymouth Pound hold a fund-raising Pet Walk-A-Thon, reunion, and cook-out at scenic Morton Pond Park in Plymouth, MA. This year's event will be held on Saturday September 13 with the dog walk beginning at 10 AM and the cook-out starting at noon. You can get a pledge sheet on-line here. NEXT! Alana Stevenson, a professional dog and cat behavioral specialist, dog trainer, and small animal massage therapist, will be hold a book-signing at the up-coming Pet Walk-A-Thon, reunion, and cook-out at scenic Morton Pond Park in Plymouth, MA on Saturday September 13 for her recent book "The Right Way the First Time, Teaching Your Dog Kindly and Humanely", which is sold by the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) through their web site at www.petacatalog.org, through Amazon, www.K9Kitty.com, and through many bookstores. COMING SOON! The annual Ride For Rover fund-raising motorcycle ride, concert, and cook-out will be held on Sunday September 21st. This event starts and ends in Plymouth. If you have a motorcycle and would like to participate in the ride, check the Boston Biker web site for details.
COMING SOON! The Plymouth Chamber of Commerce will hold a special fund-raising "Barktoberfest" for the Friends of the Plymouth Pound sometime in October. Check back here later in the summer or contact the Friends of the Plymouth Pound for more details about this event.
COMING SOON! The Cocker Spaniel Rescue organization will hold a fund-raising auction on Sunday October 19th from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Holiday Inn in Boxboro, MA. For details go to the Cocker Spaniel Rescue web site. Althought they are not affiliated with the Friends of the Plymouth Pound, the Cocker Spaniel Rescue organization is a worthy cause.
The Friends of the Plymouth Pound participate in periodic "Pet Adoption Weekends" conducted at the Petsmart store in Hyannis at intervals throughout the year. Contact the Friends of the Plymouth Pound for more details about the next event.
