About The Campaign For Watatic
The Campaign for Watatic is a project of the Ashby Land Trust with the close cooperation of the Ashburnham Conservation Trust. Our goal is to successfully complete the purchase and preservation of Mt. Watatic.
Of the $2.6 million needed to secure Mt. Watatic, we have raised $1,600,000 through state and federal funding, more than $816,000 through a campaign of charitable giving, municipal partnership, foundation grants and business donations. We have an additional $31,500 that is pending but not yet received. We are continuing to raise the final $137,500 through charitable giving and municipal partnerships. We're nearly there!
The Campaign Members share a common set of values in our work to preserve Mt. Watatic.
- We love open spaces and enjoy the recreational opportunities afforded by them.
- We have a commitment to sharing land with wildlife.
- We value working with like-minded people for the common good.
- The permanence of nature and mountains nourishes our souls.
- We wish to leave a legacy of permanently protected wilderness for our children and grandchildren.

The Ashburnham Conservation Trust, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit land preservation organization. The purpose of the Ashburnham Conservation Trust is to protect the natural landscape, ecological diversity, and rural heritage of the area by conserving open space and by fostering an understanding and appreciation of the environment. Working with State and regional conservation groups we identify and assist in the protection of Ashburnham's many natural resources.
Our technical expertise and financial support of the purchase of Mt. Watatic was vital to its success. Our shared ownership ensures that the management and future of the mountain will always have local people involved.
