TCS Guitar Tabs: "January's Little Joke"

by Dave Gels

*This is how I play the song, I'm not sure if it's right. If you strum
quickly and do some extemporaneous stuff, it sounds great. In short, put
your heart into it, lads......

INTRO - E (strum up on the first chord and go into furious strumming,
it sounds good like that)
E5 (this isn't the right name of the chord, see below)
A
E5

Ok, so the intro is E	E5 E A E5
(You have to listen to the disc to get the timing down)

E5... E E5
All I can hear is the clucking of tongues
      E
I can see them
E5 E
Plucking at crumbs of conversations
  E5
A drunk uncle's breath
E E5
And they're touching my hand

A E
As now turns into then
A E
Dream turns into dreamt
A E
Spend turns into spent
B A E
One turns into one too many say when

E E5

	   E E5
And in the blue corner
           E E5
Crouches a mediocre joker
	   E
The laughs are on me
		   E5 E
And the arch of my back cracks under the weight

of the wisecracks
         E5
Stop the clock - I want to get off

	 A E
Though I knew what argue meant
      A E
And I knew what punish meant
      A E
And I knew what embarrass meant
	B A
I never found out what achieve meant

B	A (twice)

    B
All heaven broke loose
      A E
But I knew they had something to hide
          B
They were turning the page
      A E
But I glimpsed the very last line

(picking)
       A E
Now we raised a toast to celebrate
     A E
As December's embers fade
	  A E
But every fire is just a hoax
    B A E
For January's little joke

(Keep picking on E, E5, and A and fade out)

E - 022100
E5 - 020200 (don't know the name of this one, sorry)
A - 002220
B - 224442
