Required Schedule |
For assistant professors, the required evaluation takes place in the fifth year and, if granted, will become effective at the beginning of the next academic year. (Individuals hired after January 2006 will be evaluated in the sixth year.) Individuals who are not granted tenure may remain at the college on a terminal contract
through the next year, but they will not be eligible for reappointment after their
terminal year. Review period: a thorough evaluation of the whole period of
your employment on the tenure-track at the college
|
You may apply for tenure at any time, but, because you may do so only once, you need to be very careful about it. Before you apply for early tenure, please consult 1) your department, 2) your department chairperson or the Director of the Library, and 3) the vice president for academic affairs. Unless everyone gives you enthusiastic encouragement, don't risk it!
If you decide to seek early tenure, please read the e-mail that
then Vice
President Richards and I exchanged on this issue.
